The volcanic soils of the Bolaven Plateau in southern Laos are a gift to coffee trees. Rich in minerals, well-drained, and sitting around 1,200 meters above sea level, the plateau creates conditions for beans with chocolatey, earthy undertones. Many smallholder farmers in Laos practice shade-growing under fruit trees, adding biodiversity to the cup. If Myanmar is the bright newcomer, Laos is the steady, soulful friend—reliable and grounding with every brew.
